I have been hearing of the only castle in Kenya, the Tafaria castle and was really anxious to visit this place. The journey to this place from Serena Lodge, Mt. Kenya took almost four hours and we arrived at lunch time. The staff, as usual, welcomed us warmly with drinks as we waited for lunch to be served.
For couples who desire a fairy dream wedding, this is the most romantic and perfect venue that I can recommend. This place may not have cool beaches or the sea but a honeymoon or a nuptial in the mountains would be a lovely idea. This cool breeze is awesome for cuddling and staying in bed the whole day and isn’t that what a honeymoon experience is all about? Tafaria has managed to keep to its theme and it’s a well thought out, professionally created concept that in my point of view has managed to be alive at an ideal geographic spot. It has the feel of middle ages theme that we see in epic movies. I loved their manicured gardens which in my point of view, can serve as a perfect venue for a garden wedding and the advantage of exclusive use of the castle. In addition, the ambience is perfect for a romantic and memorable photo shoot.
One can enjoy quad bike riding, riding horses, fishing or even a game drive at the Aberdares game reserve upon request.
Since we were only here for a few hours, we hurriedly ate our lunch and headed to enjoy a horse ride which was amazing. I have always wanted to learn how to ride one and I think I might come back just to be taught how to do this. There were a lot of activities that one can enjoy in this place but since time was not on our side, we headed to our next destination.
